Established in 1875 and now in its fourth generation of family ownership, removal and storage company T Bourne & Sons, have taken a 7,000 sq.ft. warehouse at St Michaels Close, Aylesford, having previously vacated premises at nearby Quarry Wood.  Bishop Whitehead acted for the freeholders, Aberdeen Property Investors, in letting the space at a rent of £6.50 psf.

Bishop Whitehead have taken over the management of 77-78 Bank Street in Maidstone, on behalf of a private landlord.  The Listed buildings, which are let to three individual tenants, are nearly 400 years old and one of Bishop Whitehead’s first jobs will be to oversee the repair and redecoration of the pargetted front elevation, bearing the Stuart Royal Coat of Arms and the Prince of Wales Badge, which dates from 1611 and is referred to in reference books worldwide.

In the biggest office letting in the town for a number of years, dairy products producer Lactalis McLelland have taken 28,000 sq.ft. of office space at 3 Princess Way, Redhill from Royal Bank of Scotland.  Princess Way will be Lactalis McLelland’s new UK Head Office, bringing together staff from existing locations in New Malden, Croydon and Glasgow.  Bishop Whitehead acted for Lactalis McLelland.

It has been another busy year for Bishop Whitehead, acting on behalf of freeholders London and Cambridge Properties at Kent House in Maidstone.  Following on from the 8 new lettings secured in 2008, it has negotiated new lettings on over 13,000 sq.ft. in 2009.  Existing tenants, Building Register, have taken 4,650 sq.ft. whilst new occupiers to the building include telecom specialists GB Universal (2,800 sq.ft.) and Questgates Loss Adjusters (1,600 sq.ft.).

Despite the difficult economic times, HSBC Bank has agreed to a substantial increase in rent on its premises in Cranbrook High Street.  Acting on behalf of the freeholders, Bishop Whitehead has secured a 35% increase in the rent payable at rent review, with effect from October 2008.

Having been based at smaller premises nearby, Fastway Couriers have taken a lease on 9,500 sq.ft. of warehousing in St Michaels Close, Aylesford.  Bishop Whitehead acted for the landlords, Aberdeen Property Investors, in letting the unrefurbished unit at £6.50 psf.

 
Icon Display Expand Operations in Aylesford PDF Print E-mail

Following a successful management buyout from its parent organisation, CSS Stellar Plc, Icon Display have taken 21,000 sq.ft. of storage accommodation at Quarry Wood Industrial Estate in Aylesford.  The company, who have over 50 years expertise in the field of signage and branding, previously occupied 8,000 sq.ft. on the same estate.  Bishop Whitehead acted on behalf of Icon’s landlord in agreeing terms for the new lease and the surrender of their existing lease.

Since being appointed as letting agents at Kent House, Maidstone in January 2008, Bishop Whitehead have negotiated eight new office lettings on behalf of owners London and Cambridge Properties.  LCP are offering space both on traditional and flexi lease terms and this has proved attractive in the marketplace.  Existing tenants Jordan Trading, Atherton Bailey and Graid have all taken new, larger suites within the building and have been joined by Wellan International, Alani Shipping, Newjobsin.com, Royal British Legion Industries and Influential Software.  Illustrating the benefits of taking flexi lease terms, Influential Software initially took space in January 2008 before moving into larger premises later in the year as their business expanded.
